US Fish and Wildlife Service to Host Public Hearing for Two Native Plant Species

When: Thursday, July 11, 2013 3-5pm and 6-8pm

Where: TRAC Center, 6600 Burden Blvd; Pasco, WA 99301

What: The USFWS is requestion comments or information from the public and other concerned agencies or citizens on their proposal to list Umtanum Desert Buckwheat and White Bluffs Bladderpod as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. Both species occur in narrow, linear bands on bluffs above and on opposite sides of the Columbia River along the Hanford Reach in Washington. The USFWS is also requesting comments on their proposal to designate critical habitat, which is geographical area that is essential for the conservation of the species. A draft economic analysis will be available at the meeting.
